Well, I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t normally put the words “productive” and “social media” in the same sentence.

Most of the time, I hear complaints from clients trying to overcome “browser blackout”.

You know when you just want to look up one thing on the internet for something you are working on and then four hours later shriek at what time it is – that you have no idea where all those hours went.

Being a productivity expert though, I didn’t jump into social media right away when it started emerging online.

I really didn’t have any social media presence until about 2012!

Social media is a double-edged sword.

We must be on there to market our business and network with others – especially if you are a location independent worker.

Over the years though, social media has become extremely important to me and at this time brings in about 80% of my clients and prospects.

Also, social media is where my relationships usually start with my sponsors and is how I got the opportunity to broadcast live from Hawaii.

It even has helped me so many times when I have customer service issues with vendors.

There is no getting away from social media these days – it is like not having a yellow page add in years past.

Back then, if your business didn’t have a presence in the yellow pages people might look a little skeptical at it.

The tools have changed, but the credibility hasn’t.

But, of course, more often than not it can often lead to wasting a lot of time.

So let’s dive into how we can have productive social media that works for us.
